Start your day with a scenic drive along Chapman’s Peak, where the road hugs the cliffs and offers breathtaking views of the ocean below. Weather permitting, this iconic coastal route will take you between Hout Bay and Noordhoek, with plenty of opportunities to stop and soak in the scenery. Afterward, head to the Cape of Good Hope, where dramatic cliffs and the endless expanse of the ocean create a truly awe-inspiring experience. Be sure to capture the moment at the famous signboard.

On your way back to Cape Town, stop at Boulders Beach to visit the charming penguin colony. Here, you can get up close to the endangered African penguins as they wander freely among the granite boulders that give the beach its name. This morning you descend into the Ngorongoro crater for a memorable game drive. This magnificent Crater is the world’s largest intact, un-flooded caldera, formed by a massive volcanic eruption. Your route downhill descends over the lush rainforests of the rim, 610m down to the grasslands of the crater floor, an area of about 260 square kilometres. This haven provides a year-round home to wildebeest, zebra, eland and gazelle, and lion. The rainforests shelter elephant, mountain buck, buffalo, hyena, wild dog, leopard, cheetah and some of Tanzania’s last remaining black rhino.

Spend your day game viewing and exploring the crater floor, stopping for a picnic lunch.

This morning, you’ll be transferred to the airstrip where you will bid farewell to your Tanazinan guide. A light aircraft flight will take you across the plains when you will be met by your Kenyan tour guide and transferred to the Masai Mara National Reserve. Note, as you will cross the border at Isebania, please keep your passport handy.  

Spending the next two nights in the reserve will allow plenty of time to discover and experience the magic of the Masai Mara Game Reserve. The Mara is home to the “Big-Five” Lion, Rhino, Buffaloes, Leopard and Elephant so keep your eyes peeled. From July to September, the wildebeest migration from the Serengeti congregates in the Masai Mara.

Early this morning you will have the option of taking a sunrise hot air balloon ride over the Masai Mara.  See below for further details.  Note that due to the popularity of this activity, pre-booking is essential.

Today will be a full day spent exploring the park in search of the big 5. The Mara is one of the most famous ecosystems in the world and with reason, this huge expansion is home to an astonishing variety of wildlife, difficult to believe, over 450 species of animals have been recorded here. You might be lucky to see lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffes, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, buffalo, leopard, many kinds of antelopes, and elephant. 

Birding can also be done throughout the year with the reserve having a record of over 570 species of birds, with more than 50 bird species of prey which include: Eagles, vultures, storks and many others.

Optional Tour - Masai Mara Sunrise Hot Air Balloon Safari

This is the ultimate way to view wildlife in Africa. You will be woken before dawn and then driven to a remote location. Taking off as the sun rises, drift quietly above plains, rivers and forests while gazing at spectacular scenery. The flight is approximately one hour and gives a ‘birds-eye’ experience to game watching which many find to be the pinnacle of their safari experience. Upon landing, there will be a full "champagne" bush-style breakfast with fresh Kenyan coffee, tea and fruits. It is a truly magical experience not to be missed!

Travelling in Africa
Travelling by road in Africa can include some long travel days.  Road quality can vary from comfortable sealed roads to rough & bumpy dirt roads.  Distances covered can be in excess of 300 km (180 miles) per day or more than 6 hours journey time, subject to the road conditions.

Luggage
Due to limited storage capacity of your safari vehicle and aircraft size from Serengeti to Masai Mara, we ask that luggage is kept to a manageable amount in a small soft bag – 15kg (33 pounds) max. Hard suitcases are not suitable.  It is also recommended to bring a day pack for use throughout the day.

Fitness Requirements
While the tour itinerary should give you some guidance and overview to the expected requirements, to determine if this tour is right for you we categorise each of our tours in terms of their intensity. These guidelines are to ensure that each tour group is conducted as expected and to ensure the overall satisfaction of all Inspiring Vacations customers.

2- Shared Room with a known friend
If travelling together with a friend, you can opt to share your room with him/her and avoid paying a single supplement.

  • Local Guides - During this tour you will be escorted by a professional local guide in each city whilst you will be unaccompanied when travelling from city to city (by plane, train or bus)

All participants must be in good physical condition to fully engage in this journey. For the safety and welfare of yourself and fellow travellers, if you are feeling unwell prior to departure, we advise staying home and contacting us to arrange alternate plans.

Prior to selecting your trip, carefully review the itinerary to assess your ability to comfortably manage our travel style. Please be aware that if, based on evaluation by our leader or local representative, a participant is deemed unable to safely complete the itinerary, we retain the right to exclude them from all or part of the trip without reimbursement.

You can enhance your holiday by arriving or departing before or after the tour. On this tour you can choose from the following options:

Post Tour Accommodation

  • $154.00 per room, per night for double and twin share
  • $123.00 per room, per night for solo travellers

Please select the number of extra nights required in the 'Additional Nights Accommodation' field when making your purchase. The additional cost for these arrangements will be added to your final payment invoice and are subject to availability.

To enhance your journey, we are offering guests a choice of the following optional activities (prices are per person):

  • Full day game drive in Kruger National Park (Day 4) - $115 per person
  • Winelands Including Two Wine Tastings (Day 7) - $101 per person
  • Cape Peninsula including Cape Point and Boulders Beach (Day 8) - $108 per person
  • Sunset Cruise on the Zambezi River (Day 10) - $88 per person
  • Masai Mara Sunrise Hot Air Balloon Safari (Day 19) - $563 per person

Optional tours can be selected once you have finalised your tour purchase and paid your deposit. When completing your Passenger Booking Form, you will be asked if you would like to add Optional Tours, where any applicable cost will be added to your final balance. If you choose not to select them at this time, you can choose to add them later by logging in to your Account online.

Please note that you must select your Optional Tours no later than 70 days before departure, after which you will be required to purchase them on tour. Please keep in mind that anything purchased on-tour is subject to availability and prices may vary as you will be paying in local currency. We appreciate your understanding.
