1. Rome, Italy
With an astounding 60 UNESCO World Heritage Sites—more than any other country in the world—it’s little wonder this Mediterranean gem is one of the most visited nations and la dolce vita continues in 2025. The capital, Rome (with 13 UNESCO sites), is set to shine in 2025 with the city celebrating the Jubilee Year. 2. Vienna, Austria
Vienna ranked first on the Most Liveable Cities in the World 2024 list, a testament to its outstanding quality of life. What makes it so liveable—and so special? Vienna is home to some of the world's most iconic landmarks, like the opulent Hofburg Palace and the majestic Schönbrunn Palace. 3. Basel, Switzerland
Swiss cultural hub, Basel, is renowned for its art and history with world-class institutions like the Kunstmuseum (one of Switzerland’s most important art museums) and the Tinguely Museum which is dedicated to Swiss artist Jean Tinguely. In 2025, the city will play host to the Eurovision Song Contest in May, bringing together top musical acts from across Europe (plus an Australian contingent). 4. Venice, Italy

5. Tromsø, Norway

6. Rovaniemi, Finland
As the official hometown of Santa Claus, Rovaniemi, offers an enchanting blend of winter magic and natural wonders. 8. Osaka, Japan
In 2025, Osaka will be one of Asia’s most exciting destinations as the Inspiring Vacations’ favourite hosts the World Expo from April to October. 11. Zurich, Switzerland
Zurich ranked second on the Happiest Cities in the World 2024 list, with the Swiss city regularly appearing on world rankings. What makes it so happy? Perhaps it's the dynamic blend of history, innovation, and beautiful lakeside location. It is also home to chocolate house Lindt—what’s not to love? 12. Agrigento, Italy
Located on the southern coast of Sicily, Agrigento is home to one of Italy’s most stunning UNESCO sites, the Valley of the Temples. This ancient archaeological park dates to the 5th century BCE and features exceptionally preserved Greek temples which overlook the Mediterranean Sea. 24. Vancouver, Canada
Vancouver, Canada's stunning west coast city, is the gateway to Alaska cruises and is renowned for its natural beauty, outdoor activities and wildlife (make your first stop Grouse Mountain, home to orphaned Grizzly bears). 25. Cairo, Egypt
Cairo, Egypt’s sprawling capital is a bucket list favourite, and there are plenty of reasons to tick it off in 2025.
