Itinerary

Hotel
The St. Regis Amman (Deluxe Room) or Similar

Welcome to Amman! On arrival at Queen Alia International Airport, you will be warmly greeted by a local representative and transferred by private vehicle to your luxury accommodation. Located in the heart of the prestigious Addoun district of Amman, The St Regis Amman exudes 5-star opulence offering its guests luxurious amenities and showcases an extensive art collection composed of works from local Jordanian artists from the azure waters of the Red Sea to the sculpted rose stones of Petra.

Once you have checked in, the rest of the day is at leisure to enjoy the hotel facilities or wander around the local area. Your hotel is located a 15-minute walk from Jordan Gate Towers, while shopping spots like the high-end Baraka Shopping Mall is a 10-minute stroll away.

Airport transfers are included as part of your package. On arrival look out for a representative holding an “Inspiring Vacations” sign after you have collected your baggage and exited customs. If you cannot find them, try to avoid wandering around and instead stay in one place and call the emergency contact number on your documentation.

Meals
Breakfast, Dinner

After a leisurely breakfast, meet your guide for a welcome briefing, then proceed to Jerash, the Graeco-Roman city (ancient Gerasa), a close second to Petra on the list of top Jordan destinations.

Once one of the grandest ancient Roman cities in the world, Jerash now boasts some of the best Greco-Roman ruins around. Admire this site's striking collection of crumbling archways, theatres, baths, public buildings and colonnaded streets. Grand columns encircle the city's centrepiece, the Oval Plaza, a wonderfully atmospheric place to linger after exploring this ruined city's lasting riches.

Following our visit, we returned to Amman for a guided tour through the city. Here we’ll visit the Roman Theatre remains, the Archaeological Museum and the Citadel containing the remains of the Temple of Hercules. Afterwards, we’ll enjoy an Inspiring Taste at one of the city’s traditional tea shops as you sample the popular Jordanian dessert called kataifi, a spun pastry which is soaked in sugar-based syrup.

This evening, we come together for a special welcome dinner at one of Amman’s most popular restaurants. Enjoy a welcome drink before we sit down to a fine selection of traditional Lebanese dishes accompanied by local wine as you get to know your fellow travellers.

Breakfast

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, before we begin our journey towards the Dead Sea. En route we'll visit Madaba, an ancient market town that's home to a number of fine Byzantine mosaics, the most outstanding of which lies within Saint George's Greek Orthodox Church. Here, a map of the Holy Land once carpeted the whole floor, said to contain more than two million pieces. Crafted around 560 CE, a large swathe of this mosaic map can still be viewed, providing the oldest map of Palestine in existence.

To the west is the most revered site in Jordan: Mount Nebo, the memorial of Moses, the presumed site of the prophet's death and burial place. A small, square church was built on the spot by early Byzantine Christians and later expanded into a vast complex.

Following our visit, we continue to the Dead Sea arriving this afternoon where the rest of the day is at leisure. Our 5-star luxury resort by the Dead Sea is inspired by the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. Boasting 9 swimming pools, diverse culinary options, one of the largest spas in the Middle East, your stay at the Dead Sea will be one to remember!

Meals
Breakfast, Dinner

After breakfast we spend the morning on the shores of this famous body of water, named for the dearth of life in its waters. The saline water has a high density that keeps bathers buoyant and makes getting underneath the surface very difficult. Floating on the surface without any sort of lilo makes for a once in a lifetime experience.

Afterwards we'll continue on our journey to Petra where the rest of the afternoon is free to relax.

Tonight, we enjoy another Inspiring Taste with a difference as you partake in an interactive Arabic cooking class at the famous Petra Kitchen. Under the guidance of the chef, you will learn how to make specialty Jordanian dishes and salads before sitting down together to enjoy our freshly-made feast!

Breakfast, Dinner

After breakfast, we tour the Inspiring Site that is Petra! A firm fixture on most bucket lists for good reason – the jewel of Jordan is an arresting sight. The so-called Rose City boasts an impressive series of tombs, caves and temples hidden behind ornate façades carved directly into the rock. No one knows the exact date of this desert kingdom's creation, but the lost city of the Nabateans is believed to date as far back as the 2nd century CE. The city has lain empty and unknown for centuries, only rediscovered in 1812 by a Swiss explorer. Meander through the narrow canyon known as the Siq; at times the path measures only a few metres wide, with walls soaring up to 180 metres on either side of you. It's easy to imagine the armies and merchants who made their way here many years ago, and the sense of awe they too must have felt upon reaching this ancient rock-hewn kingdom, surrounded by such a stark landscape. The Siq is the main entranceway to The Treasury – perhaps Petra's most iconic sight, and one of its most elaborate temples. Petra's greatest surprise, however, is its size. With our guide we'll explore the old Roman road, the amphitheatre and several tombs. We'll also climb up to the beautiful façade of the Monastery, from where you will have a magnificent view of the entire site.

Return to your hotel this afternoon and relax before we enjoy another Inspiring Taste as we take dinner at the Jordan Heritage Restaurant. This not-for-profit organisation's mission is to document and ensure Jordanian heritage is not lost through its traditions, culture and partially its food and is the first restaurant of its kind to serve truly authentic Jordanian cuisine.

To complete our day, we return to the Petra ruins, this time by night and a magical visit by candlelight! In stark contrast to your visit earlier today, experience the rock city lit with over 1,500 candles for a truly incredible experience.

Meals
Breakfast, Dinner

After breakfast we drive southwards to Wadi Rum, a moonscape terrain of ancient river beds, wind-sculpted mountains, vast desert vistas and smooth, and pastel-coloured sands. Wadi Rum is probably best known for its connection with the enigmatic British army officer TE Lawrence, who was based here during the Great Arab Revolt of 1917-18. Much of David Lean's movie on his exploits, Lawrence of Arabia, was actually filmed in this very region. You will meet local Bedouins and enjoy cardamom-spiced coffee at the Beau Geste outpost.

On arrival we check into our Inspiring Stay as we check into our luxury “Star Dome” tented suite offering large panoramic glass and ceiling windows for uninterrupted views of the desert landscape and star gazing at night.

During our visit to Wadi Rum, we’ll go on a 2-hour jeep tour of this beautiful oasis homea truly out of this world experience, then this afternoon, enjoy a special sunset cocktail in the desert with local treats before we enjoy a traditional Zrab Dinner at your camp. This traditional Bedouin style of cooking where marinated meat and vegetables are buried in an oven dug in sandy ground will allow you to experience century old cooking techniques and one of the first known slow-cook processes.

After dinner, we take a special star gazing experience. With minimal light pollution, Wadi Rum offers one of the world's best stargazing spots and there is nothing more special than viewing the night sky in this stunning desert location.

After these memorable experiences, we’ll return to the camp for breakfast, before driving (approximately an hour) to our hotel in Aqaba.

On arrival, check into your luxurious 5-star resort overlooking the Red Sea and then head out for an afternoon on the incredible Red Sea. First we board a private boat for a cruise on the tranquil waters and get to see the coral and marine life through its semi-submersible base and then enjoy an opportunity to snorkel the clear waters. Later, we transfer to a floating restaurant, the White Prince for a BBQ buffet lunch of grilled chicken, grilled kebab and fish before returning to your hotel where the rest of the late afternoon and evening will be at leisure.
