Best Canada Tours & Holidays

Canada is one of the world’s premier destinations, and for good reason: endless peaks, breathtaking wilderness, and energetic cities dot the country’s colossal landscape. Each of its 10 provinces offers visitors something special. Dive into the Rockies of southwestern Canada for a glimpse of rugged mountains and glacial lakes. Traverse the untamed western Yukon in search of Canadian history and wildlife. Visit Ontario’s roaring Niagara Falls, or head east to cosmopolitan Quebec for architecture as grand as any found in Europe. No matter where you land, you’re bound to be blown away by both the sights and the hospitality.

In addition to its famed natural beauty, Canada excels in other areas: its rich art scene is visible in the alleys and galleries of its most populous cities, and ingrained into the psyche of its citizens. Every aspect of the Great White North is bound to inspire.

Inspiring Vacations offers several travel styles for exploring Canada's diverse landscapes and vibrant cities. Our Canadian adventures include Classic tours with comfortable accommodations and comprehensive itineraries, Small Group tours for more intimate exploration, and Tailor-Made tours customised to your specific preferences and interests. Many itineraries feature iconic rail journeys and wildlife expeditions. We also offer spectacular cruise options, including Alaska Inside Passage voyages that complement land tours, allowing you to experience Canada's magnificent coastline and interior landscapes in one seamless journey.

Canada offers extraordinary wildlife encounters throughout the seasons. In Manitoba's Churchill region, witness polar bears in their natural habitat during summer coastal wanderings or fall ice-formation gatherings. Summer visitors can marvel at thousands of beluga whales in Hudson Bay. The Rocky Mountain parks provide opportunities to spot black bears, grizzlies, elk, moose, mountain goats, and bighorn sheep.

Our specialised wildlife excursions include expert naturalist guides and responsible viewing practices.

Inspiring Vacations offers tours covering all major regions of Canada.

  • Western Canada tours feature the Rocky Mountains, Banff, Jasper, Vancouver, and Victoria, focusing on natural landscapes and outdoor adventures.
  • Eastern Canada tours include Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, and Niagara Falls, emphasising cultural experiences, historic sites, and urban exploration.

Many itineraries can be combined with Alaska experiences for a comprehensive northern adventure that showcases the best of both destinations.

Winter in Canada transforms the landscape into a magical wonderland with distinctive seasonal activities. Our winter Canada tour packages include specialised cold-weather gear and equipment for comfort and safety during outdoor adventures. Depending on the itinerary, experiences can feature snowshoeing through pristine forests, ice walking along frozen canyons with magnificent ice formations, wildlife tracking in snow-covered landscapes, and potential Northern Lights viewing. Winter travellers can also enjoy cosy evenings by crackling fires in mountain lodges, traditional Canadian winter cuisine, and uncrowded access to normally bustling scenic spots.

Our Eastern Canada itineraries distinguish themselves through thoughtfully curated experiences beyond standard tourist routes. We incorporate authentic cultural immersion opportunities while exploring cosmopolitan centres like Toronto, Montreal, and Quebec City.

Guests enjoy early access privileges at popular attractions before crowds arrive, distinctive regional dining experiences showcasing French-Canadian culinary traditions, and encounters with local artisans and historians. Our Eastern Canada journeys weave together urban exploration, natural wonders like Niagara Falls, and historical discoveries that reveal Canada's fascinating multicultural heritage and architectural splendour.

The Rocky Mountaineer rail journey represents the pinnacle of scenic train travel through Western Canada's breathtaking landscapes. Unlike ordinary train rides, this daylight-only luxury experience ensures you don't miss a moment of the spectacular scenery through custom-designed coaches with glass-dome ceilings for panoramic mountain views.

Onboard amenities include regionally inspired gourmet dining and complimentary beverages. Our guided tours of Canada thoughtfully integrate this iconic rail experience with carefully selected accommodations and additional excursions to destinations inaccessible by rail.

When planning Canada tours from Australia, timing is everything as each season offers distinctly different experiences:

  • Summer (Jun-Aug): Long daylight hours, abundant wildlife, vibrant festivals, alpine wildflowers, and perfect conditions for outdoor activities.
  • Autumn (Sep-Nov): Spectacular foliage colours, fewer crowds, wildlife preparing for winter, harvest festivals, and crisp days ideal for photography.
  • Winter (Dec-Feb): Snow-covered landscapes, Northern Lights viewing, winter sports, festive celebrations, and opportunities to track wildlife in snow.
  • Spring (Mar-May): Rushing waterfalls, emerging wildlife with young animals, early wildflowers, fewer tourists, and bird migrations.

  • Summer: Wear lightweight clothing, a sun hat, insect repellent, and light rain gear. For additional recommendations, check out our guide, Canadian Rockies in Summer.
  • Autumn: Pack a medium jacket, light gloves, and a warm hat and scarf.
  • Winter: Bring along an insulated parka, thermal layers, waterproof boots, and all your warm accessories.
  • Spring: Don’t forget waterproof footwear, medium layers, and rain gear.
  • Year-round essentials: Ensure you pack layered clothing, a waterproof jacket, comfortable walking shoes, a daypack, sunglasses, sunscreen, a reusable water bottle, a camera, a Type B electrical adapter, and swimwear for the hot springs.

Canadians have a well-earned reputation for politeness - here's what to expect during your visit:

  • Queuing orderly for services is expected; cutting lines is considered extremely rude.
  • Saying "please," "thank you," and "sorry" occurs frequently in Canadian interactions. Canadians often apologise even when not at fault as a courtesy gesture.
  • When entering buildings or public transit, hold doors for others following behind you. Remove shoes when entering private homes unless the host explicitly says otherwise.
  • Public spaces maintain a moderate speaking volume; loud conversations draw unwanted attention.
  • Tipping service workers (15-20% in restaurants, $2-5 for hotel housekeeping daily, and $5-10 per person per day for tour guides) is not just appreciated but expected as part of their income.
  • During winter, removing snowy or muddy footwear when entering establishments shows considerate behaviour.
  • Canadians generally respect personal space (about arm's length in conversations) and value environmental consciousness—littering and wasteful practices are frowned upon.
  • Indigenous acknowledgments often precede public events, reflecting respect for First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples whose traditional territories you'll be visiting.

Canada uses Type B outlets (two flat parallel pins) with 120V/60Hz power. Bring Type B adapters and voltage converters for devices not rated for 120V.

Most modern electronics with "100-240V" on the charger work without converters. Consider packing a multi-plug adapter or power strip, and note that non-dual-voltage hair styling tools may not work properly.

The optimal timing for a Canada holiday depends entirely on your desired experience. For comprehensive insights, consult our guide for the best time to visit Canada and Alaska

Summer (June-August) delivers warm temperatures (18-30°C), extended daylight for exploration, peak wildlife activity, and vibrant festivals across the country. This season offers ideal conditions for hiking, canoeing, and outdoor photography, though popular destinations can become crowded.

Autumn (September-November) transforms landscapes with spectacular foliage, offers comfortable temperatures (5-15°C), reduced tourist numbers, and unique wildlife observations as animals prepare for winter.

Winter (December-February) brings snow-covered wonderlands with temperatures from -5°C to -30°C, providing Northern Lights viewing opportunities, ice festivals, and winter sports.

Spring (March-May) features gradual warming (0-15°C), emerging wildlife, rushing waterfalls from snowmelt, and shoulder season value, though some mountain attractions may remain snow-affected.

Canada's cuisine varies by region: try poutine and maple treats in Quebec, fresh seafood in Atlantic provinces, salmon in British Columbia, Ukrainian dishes and beef in the Prairies, and bison in Alberta. Don't miss nationwide favourites like butter tarts, Nanaimo bars, and BeaverTails. Indigenous cuisine featuring wild rice, game meats, and bannock bread is also worth seeking out.
